#TheCribs 4th album IGNORE THE IGNORANT sees #GuitarGenius Johnny Marr join & it's immediately obvious; their most technically competent and well produced album. Ryan Jarman and Marr together is a once-in-a-billion-years-cosmic-event that producrd some of the most infectious guitar melodies ever; while the interplay between the two guitarists isn't #Television, ItJustWorks™ even though one gets the impression Marr took the lead as there are less repetitive lines and more #Smiths melodies.
this album has some of the best (subjective) Cribs songs, but sometimes borders on too #BlandAndRadioFriendly, losing some of the Cribs immature edge which is pivotal for their music. that being said, it's still one of their best albums and includes The Cribs HOW SOON IS NOW moment with CITY OF BUGS, an epic despair anthem that Johnny Marr stated was one of the best tracks he ever worked on. a dark Elvis sounding verse with a cacophonous typhoon of guitar #NOISE chorus
rest is #POP and some of the best guitarPOP of 2009, other than BUGS these are the stand out POPS
- We Share The Same Stars
- Emasculate Me
- We Were Aborted
- Victim of Mass Production
the reason this album isn't their best is because it has a lot of misses, especially near the end of the album; as such, it's heavily FRONT LOADED but that front-load will blast your face off with crunchy guitar pop riffs dreamt up by two of the most unique guitarists alive right now.
yes, The Cribs still rhyme Face with Place and Me with See consistently and sometimes rhyme the same word in every verse but #THEMUSIC
