handmade ghost

The has a song like a little city, full of buzzes and trills and urgent pauses for traffic (in the form of the rustling grasses of the marsh near my home).

Anyway, another lovely bird from my yesterday. I love them.

Photo of a song sparrow--a streaky-breasted "little brown job" of a bird--perched plumply atop the crossbar of a chain link fence near the entrance to some local marshland, a parallel strand of barbed wire an inch or so above eir head, the tips of yellow grasses here and there lit by the winter sun. The song sparrow is perched facing right, but eir head is looking back and up to the left over eir right wing, which makes em seem thoughtful, or perhaps on the verge of speech. A blur of snow and blue sky is noticeable in the background.
