Working on Cell Sword I have been on a modest dive into what makes Descent (1995) tick.
Being of the 90s it has its own file formats for levels and resources and also a format for grouping those all together. The extensions are porcine themed - .HOG, .HAM, .PIG.
Impenetrable to me of course but there is a healthy scene to decode them. Interesting in an anthropological way -- not the clean patterns we have developed around data exchange, serialisation and streaming today.
