Come listen to another gentle reading in the succubard's libary~ :eevee_joy:

[The Oblivion Crisis]
youtube.com/watch?v=s3uRKofYNz

Today, we're reading about the Oblivion Crisis, which were the events that took place during The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. This is a perfect book to read after yesterday's On Oblivion for reasons you'll figure out once you listen to it :bugcat_nod:

This book is available in TESV: Skyrim, which makes sense. It was written between Oblivion and Skyrim, with details that would be known to the Hero of Kvatch, but not to a historian trying to put the events together afterwards without access to them :zerotwo_learn:

Oh, and I also adjusted some things and I'm more expressive than ever :shiba_love:

As always, tell me what you liked, what you didn't like, and maybe even what you want me to read next :hug_love:

I also want to take a second to appreciate that, as the hero, you get to do a lot of extra planer traveling that most mortals don't do. That the article there points out specifically that you can *usually* only die in battle to get there. Unless you use a portal, which the hero has access to, and would be the same as going to Valhalla and then a tourist popping out of the back kitchen to talk with someone real quick before running back to their own eternity. 😂

:boosts_ok: Bedtime reading is back with a proper recording of On Oblivion from The Elder Scrolls :charmander_yay: This book in particular has existed from as far back as The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, which is a game I almost never hear mentioned outside of people like Josh Strife Hayes :frog_think:

The previous recording I had of this was using the old png model, and was cut from the stream as opposed to a dedicated recording. I'm really happy this recording turned out so much better.

For those who haven't read or listened to it before, it's a wonderful little primer on the world and lore of the Elder Scrolls world and I highly recommend you take a quick listen :eevee_joy:

This guy's "I FORCED Myself" review series is fantastic. It's genuinely entertaining to watch someone who knows nothing about these earlier games give them a proper, fair go with the mindset of trying to enjoy the games as they are.

It's also hilarious how he always ends up in some seriously crazy circumstances in each one of them :guilded_lul:

That's pretty awesome, Ted Petersen (one of the original creators of the Elder Scrolls games) wrote in-universe books for the 1.0 release of the fan project, Daggerfall Unity.

Imagine a developer so passionate about a nearly 29 year old game that he writes new lore for a fan-based
remaster. :gabsalute:

Something I really wish Bethesda would do is allow other studios to make spinoffs of their games in different genres, the way that Redguard was an action-adventure spin on the Elder Scrolls formula.

Tech issues aside, this game really had serious ambition and potential. It's a shame they didn't release any more games in the Elder Scrolls Adventures label!

Help me, #gamers of the Fediverse!

I love big, #openWorld games where you travel to lots of places and explore different terrains and people groups — the classic examples being #Bethesda games like the #ElderScrolls (#Oblivion, #Skyrim) and #Fallout.

My only #gaming platform is my #SteamDeck. What other games should I look at that wlll give me this experience? Bonus points if (like Skyrim and unlike Fallout) the worlds are beautiful.

Old games are just fine, BTW.
