Spent a few hours on an #ARMAReforger public server again last night. Some good un-modded PVE point control gameplay, ~60 players. I did alright. Took charge as needed and contributed. Helped a few new folks out as well. Only had a couple notable issues with other players being fools. Will definitely be doing that more. Need to get some Heli practice in as well, though I'm stuck using a gamepad for flight controls. HOTAS support is non-existant.

Showing off new features for my home cockpit: Priority alerts, sounds and more status indicators

This uses my X4-SimPit extension for X4: Foundations, that sends ship telemetry via a socket to my node-red plumbing pipeline, which in turn forwards data to Websockets, SocketIO and MQTT. Various subscriber listen on the new messages to run blinken lights and my HUD app. I’m using the well known message format also used by Elite Dangerous so it’s compatible with that game as well.

Oh yeah… and on Linux PC 🤓

Let me know what you think!

X4-SimPit code (pending changes) is here: github.com/bekopharm/x4-simpit
The cockpit panel has a dedicated project page here: simpit.dev/

I just found out that the NVIDIA driver on Linux simply cannot utilise the system RAM when your GPU is running out of VRAM. Allocations will simply fail.

That fucking sucks.

Windows is apparently remarkably good at managing video memory, so many games simply rely on that and don't take into account how much VRAM is used or available.

Seems like AMD's drivers (Mesa) can deal with this, but I'm not sure.

My only criticism of #LollipopChainsawRePOP is that, difficulty-wise, Normal feels more like Very Easy. The real challenge isn’t in completing levels or defeating bosses—it’s in aiming for as many A grades as possible and finishing stages quickly. Even then, success isn’t purely about skill; it’s more about strategically using power-ups. This feels like a game where I’ll need to tackle the highest difficulty setting. #gaming #SteamDeck #LollipopChainsaw #gamingonlinux
