UPDATE: (thanks Mauser II and Patrick Schmitz)
The screenshot issue is happening due to HW acceleration being enabled and is NOT a DRM thing!

The AMD video recording problem IS a DRM thing tho, which is why I assumed it was also causing this problem. My bad! (see screenshot in the Mauser thread for that abomination)

------

I was gonna share a screenshot of a football match I'm watching, because I think one of the teams has very nice kit colors, but I'm on Windows right now and screenshotting it leads to a black window - no doubt because of some DRM crap somewhere in this shit OS.

God I hate neoliberals and their capitalist bullshit :blobcatfluffangry:

Not sure if it's in Windows itself or in the AMD drivers or in the browser (firefox) but either way it's some freedom infringing bullshit and I can't wait for this whole system to come crashing down as it no doubt soon will

I am an AmeriCorps NCCC alum, and while I have very mixed feelings about my time with the program, AmeriCorps just got DOGEd and there are young folks who just wanted to serve who need our help. I had the misfortune of being in the class of 2013, when the government shut down, delaying our start by weeks, and possibly completely canceling that service year entirely. I was homeless. I was very lucky, and had folks I could couch surf with, and managed to get through it just fine, but the anxiety of having a program I gave up my living situation for falling through like that has stayed with me.

The NCCC class of 2025 were in the program already when the rug got pulled out from under them. If you are an AmeriCorps Alum, check whatever network space you might have with past programs and teammates, and you will likely find links and forms for helping connect you to a current corps-member who needs aid. If you don't have access, let me know and I will privately send you a link.

The 18-26 year olds who join this group do it because they think they have the ability to be a force for good in the world. AmeriCorps does not have the same pull or benefits of military service, these are kids who largely believe in the mission. Help these kids, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because they represent, more than most, the spark of hope we need in this world, and right now that needs to be protected.

I'll generalize this. "The more unequal society is, the more severe the disaster".

This goes for climate, healthcare, housing, economy, ...

Equality is a form of resilience. Although disasters can be equalizing (see Rebecca Solnit - A Paradise built in Hell), true billionaires / multi-millionaires will extract themselves from rebuilding a community by virtue of being supremely isolated and protected.

Dear [CUSTOMER_FIRST_NAME],

We're writing you that the feature you use the most in our services will be sunset soon. We'd invite you to familiarize yourself with another completely unrelated feature that you will not have the need for. We are doing this in our ever continuing effort to enhance our services and that we could serve you better. Also your service fee will raise by 5€.

Thank you for being our valued customer and pray we don't alter the deal any further!

The only sane response to an insane world is to be insane yourself.

Thats life in the second quarter of the 21st century of the common era for you. War, genocide, neo-liberal / late stage capitalism, mass extinction, global heating, climate catastrophes, fascists, bigots... The list goes on and on.

If that doesn't make you depressed and anxious there is something wrong in your head.

@GossiTheDog pretty shure #Apple's #Greedflation will not result in their #iPhone|s and other products to be sold #cheaper in the #EU, but instead they'll do #PriceGouging even harder!

  • And because #Fanboys are just beyond help, they still gonna buy that shite regardless!

Or does anyone expect Apple to stop #overcharging for their #AntiRepairDesign|ed products???

  • Hell no, Tim Cook wants to buy himself the dozenth house just from bonuses!!!

End Stage Capitalism: The Aristocrats! but with more apps & less soap

Doctorow's recent dissection of "end stage capitalism" reads like an eulogy for a terminally ill economic patient that overdosed on its own supply of bullshit. Capitalism isn't just limping towards collapse. It's actively sprinting into a bonfire with its hair ablaze, deluded about infinite growth on a finite planet.

They (kleptocrat corporate capital) are already beginining to remove tooling equipment from Canadian factories to send south of the border.

Time for the Canadian government to nationalize assets of companies that attempt do this and halt them.

Severance would be capitalism’s ultimate triumph where the individual becomes both oppressor and oppressed.

The procedure bifurcates consciousness, creating an "innie" enslaved to labor in service of an "outie" who is blissfully detached from their own complicity. It is capitalism's ideal endpoint, where exploitation is outsourced to a version of oneself, rendering resistance impossible and solidarity obsolete.
