LIVE from MASSIVE Trump-Musk HANDS OFF Protest in NYC on National Day of Protest

youtube.com/watch?v=DNseWqoKr-

Status Coup reporter Ashley Bishop is LIVE in New York City covering a massive nation-wide day of protest in all 50 states against President Trump and Elon Musk's mass layoffs of government workers and cutting of critical programs that affect health, education, food, clean energy, and much more…

I attended my first protest of the current era in February, a march against Trump's grab at #NYC's hard-fought congestion pricing, and his declared kingship. All I did was show up, and walk down Broadway with the crowd.

It was transformative, following a literal U.S. flag-bearer, amid a simple chant of "No kings!” It reminded me of where I live, and who runs the place.

Two months later, NYC still has congestion pricing, by the way. And Trump is still not king. #HandsOff masto.nyc/@jmac/11404993863236

Americans: The nationwide #HandsOff protests are today. There's likely a protest near you; the website for it has more info. You don't need to (and probably shouldn't) register; you can just show up.

I'm going to the one in Midtown #NYC, and so's Amy. No signs for us, or special prep, other than following common protest-prep advice that you should look up if you plan to attend.

The large part of any victory is just showing up. That counts for this too. Keep showing up.

Given the weekend weather forecast for #NYC, I rolled 50 km (*) Friday night, and ooooph, that sucked. Between the cold that I cannot shake and my back deciding to play up, the last 15 km was miserable.

At least the raindrops I started feeling 15 km from the end never gathered the courage to turn into a shower.

* Actually more like 51+ km. I hit pause when I entered a corner store in Red Hook and forgot to unpause until I took a major rest stop 10 minutes later.

related: i always had my sons, even as babies, at protests. i worked the fuck out of that double stroller Maclaren.

IF YOU’RE BRINGING YOUR KIDS, BRING STROLLERS. you will not regret it one bit.

also, bring extra clothes and diapers, not just for your baby but another parent in need.

FOLKS IN WHEEL CHAIRS make sure your batteries are well charged and check your tires. there’s no easy charging in #NYC

COVID numbers are going up, but #flu and #RSV cases continue to drop in #NYC. We still don't have accurate hospitalization numbers for #influenza and #RSVirus here, but it looks like the overall risk of hospitalization and death from acute airborne infectious diseases is dropping.

I'm going to plan for indoor dining and singing, and maybe travel, but as long as this many people are dying and being hospitalized I'll #WearAMask in elevators, trains, doctor's offices, pharmacies and supermarkets!

Visiting the Upside in UWS for the first time. On the TVs are: Sports, sports, sports, and Jeopardy!, all on mute. I am OK with this configuration 🍻 #NYC
