Suikoden HD Remaster will not be released 2023 and delayed to, well, I guess next year. #suikoden #jrpg #konami #suikodeniiihdremastergateruneanddunanunificationwar
Casual reminder that these are ports of a 15 year old PSP Port of the games
@suikoversum It's a bit unsettling that they didn't postpone it to x/24 or even 24 at all, but just said "It's done when it's done", which is a sign to me that it might be never done.
@docower I also don't get it. It's probably done already, at least for PC, since they already had a more or less working version for last Tokyo Game Show. They want to release close to Eiyuden, maybe they don't want to say something too definite before Eiyuden doesn't get a final date
@suikoversum I just wonder why they're so fixed on Eiyuden. Do they want to profit on the momentum? I'm not really sure what their endgame is.
@docower It makes sense for both games, to build up hype. If they release close, people interested in Eiyuden might pick up Suikoden first. People who pick up Suikoden might get interested in Eiyuden. But by now, they could easily have released the HD Remaster already and started work on a Suikoden III HD Remaster...
@suikoversum Yeah, it's baffling. There is surely some boost effect going on between both games, but honestly, they could have released it now and then made a sale when Eiyuden launches, or something like that. Or just re-release Suikoden III, could that be so hard to port?
@docower I'd say Suikoden III is probably impossible to port. It's probably easier to recreate it from scratch.
@suikoversum Valid point. I don't know how Konami cared about preservation, but I'd wager the source code is lost for a long time.
@docower III is also notorious for being weirdly coded. Rumour has it this is the reason it wasn't released in Europe, since konami themselves couldn't easily add the localizations (and they didn't want to release an English game all over Europe).
