Amelie Doree takes a look at Angelique, a guilty pleasure series that I can't fucking read easily and likely will never get any sort of translation. (Because 1: Koei are cowards. 2: A good chunk of the guys fail the "half your age + 7" test with the protags and uhh, yeah that's a bit sketch. 3: There's only like 2 bilingual fans who know how to rom hack and the text encryption schemes keep tripping them up.)

Clavis & Olivie best boys youtu.be/1-27IEmoKZY

I would like to gush a bit about Olivie in general. I'm not the right person to say definitively if he's good queer representation or not. But I think he's pretty decent for the time and place he was created. He's not a joke character: he's part of the main cast and you don't need to do anything special to get his endings. He's a bit campy, dresses femininely, and loves fashion (he was a model/designer before becoming a guardian), but it's not treated as a negative thing. That's just how he is.

(I'm not sure "he" is the correct pronouns for him, by the way. IIRC, he uses "Watashi", and corrects someone in an OVA when they mistake him for a woman. And I don't think anyone at Ruby Party could fathom the concept of being Non-Binary in the early 1990s.)

Also his voice actor is Takehito Koyasu. Dio Brando. And I just think he's neat.
