The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom review – pure magic

I see Eurogamer have re-implemented a scoring system for their game reviews after making a big song and dance about removing scores a few years ago, and the first game with the new system is a 4/5 for TotK.
And predictably all the comments so far are about the score not the game. Clickbait journalism at it's finest
Nearly 300 comments on the EG review now so I guess they got what they wanted. I remembered why I stopped checking that site after they got rid of their forum
@COMPU73E I’m not sore about their review score for ToK but I am sore that in the piece justifying why they had gone back to using scores they said they barely used ‘Avoid’ in the previous model because it felt ‘mean’.
If a review outlet isn’t prepared to be honest in its assessments because they don’t wish to appear mean then what is the point of their words or scores?
It felt like an admission not only a justification.
@Constantine I'm not bothered about the score either, but it's just so blatantly cynical. They knew exactly what would happen ("better than Halo" was a meme on EG for years after they gave that game 8/10 back in the day)
@COMPU73E it absolutely feels as cynical as all hell. There’s always a new way this industry finds to make you feel a little queasy.
@COMPU73E 4/5 from Eurogamer is shockingly high. The same people that gave the original Dead Island a 2/10, with their only real complaint being aesthetics.
