I got a brand new lemon and tried to replace it

Steam is great and all, but this has been one of the worst customer support experiences I've had in recent memory

Please upvote or award this or whatever because it is **an absolute joke** that Valve is this terrible at supporting its hardware devices

steamcommunity.comSteam Deck return/exchange process needs a colossal overhaul :: Suggestions / Ideas

@InfiniteHench my goodness. From what your write I assumed that they didn't help you. But the fact is that they didn't send you a refund before they got your old one. That is hardly worth such an outrage, in my opinion. I'd say it's frugal to have the old device back first, given all the fraud that is going on.

@chris Maybe I need to add some details to that post.

But most other companies I've dealt with in this situation will put a temporary charge on your credit card and ship out a new unit immediately while the old one ships back.

Valve can't even ship out a new unit once they receive and verify this one is busted. All they can do is wait for the item to arrive, wait for support to assess it, issue a refund, and I'll get *that* in 5-10 days after.

That's some dark age shit

@InfiniteHench 5-10 days. That is a minor inconvenience. Not a support desaster.

@InfiniteHench @chris Sorry mate, but there are a lot of companies that have that policy, probably even the majority. It applies to anything from hard drives and phones to NAS equipment.
