I was going through the Orc Caverns in when I had my first ever blood red bad level feeling. This was only on level 31 so I felt fairly confident (foreshadowing) taking it on. Found a few very out of depth uniques and while killing a marilith one of them rounded the corner. I tried to bail and read a teleport scroll, but it failed. The subsequent water bolt (irresistible damage) took me from around a hundred HP to -76.

My paladin was lvl 28.
