handmade ghost

Here e is, the (uncommon) LEGO common kingfisher enjoying a little outing to the river where I usually go to watch for our local belted kingfishers. We had a nice time in the on-the-cusp-of-stormy afternoon.

The LEGO bird is shown in left-facing profile and has a smooth, vivid russet breast and rather ingenious dark blue wings spread in rising triumph with petals of lighter blue like the fingertips of those outspread feathers. E is "taking off" from a base covered in clear and translucently blue tiles arranged like a spray of water, a few adjacent, LEGO cattails standing tall behind em. Eir head is cocked cheekily up and to a little to one side, a silver LEGO fish like a prize in eir mouth. The whole assemblage is standing in the actual outdoors on a bed of actual grass and pine needles by the side of an actual cold, greeny-grey river. In the far distance, storm clouds gather over chapparal scrub and dark green, distant hills.
