Feeling a little overwhelmed today by the harm people do to each other - Syria, Israel/Gaza, Russia/Ukraine, US healthcare, the list goes on and on. And there's not a thing I can do about it.

Time for some #WeRateDogs distraction, we could all use some kisses

Jasper mostly ignores the #dogs of the house these days, he’s become too old & lazy to expend energy on harassing them, plus the dogs learned a while back to always stay out of claw reach. But we have a recent addition to the house dog pack and little Gilda hasn’t yet learned to keep a safe distance. For Jasper this was too much temptation, didn’t even have to get up from his chair.

(Scene: we walk Odin out to an empty field in the woods in a large park on a cold, damp winter day)

My husband: it should be safe to let him loose here, there’s no need to immediately chase after him if he wanders off

Me: yes, it will be fine

(We unhook Odin from his leash. He immediately bolts off directly behind us. We turn and see one, two, THREE horses trotting out of the woods and Odin is barreling enthusiastically right for them to make friends)

Humans in unison: FUCK.

'Dogs are using button boards deliberately and in ways that are distinct from their owners, according to a study published December 9 in the journal Scientific Reports. The research further finds that certain two-word button combinations can’t be explained by chance, and that dogs may be willfully stringing together short phrases.'
