Saw this at the current exhibit at Wash U's Kemper Art Museum. The whole exhibit is about seeds and the art is lovely, but this really stunned me. The drawers are full of seeds taken from plants growing locally, which you can take.

Picture of a six foot tall wooden structure in an art gallery. The structure is roughly 2x2x6 ft. The top is a pitched roof with books about plants and nature in it, below that is a sign that says "Next Epoch Seed Library", below that is a series of 12 drawers (in rows of 3) labeled alphabetically. Below that two ceramic pyramids sit on a platform with overhead lighting. Below that are a few more labeled drawers, and a the bottom is a platform with various pieces of plants.

Nu fik jeg sat gang i forkultiveringen af tomater, lathyrus og basilikum. De tre vigtigste for mig lige nu. Jeg har med vilje siddet på hænderne og først gået i gang nu, så jeg ikke skal bøvle med ranglede planter eller kunstigt lys.
Lathyrus kan godt tåle lidt frost, så selv om jeg har sået mange, kan de godt stå ude eller i drivhuset, når pladsen i vindueskarmen bliver for trang.

Jeg har ikke brugt ret mange penge på frø og forkultivering i år. Jeg bruger og genbruger, hvad jeg har, og det plejer at gå udemærket.
I år har jeg købt en pose spagnumsfri såjord, lidt supplement af lathyrusfrø, fået et par poser tomatfrø og så ellers brugt frø fra sidste år og her i blandt egne høstede.

For a long time I didn’t know what these things were, they look very funny.
They’re things that rattle when you shake a guitar.

I think they are #guitar seeds and when they are ripe they fall out of the hole in the guitar.

And guitars form #seeds inside and then spit them out through this hole. That’s probably what the hole is for, isn’t it? Have any of you ever grown guitars and know anything about it and can give me some tips?

We decided to try a different approach to Tuesdays #today.

After I'd been to Tai Chi and collected Sacha from her gym class I filled the car up with petrol and got a Sainsbury's Meal Deal which we took to the allotment.

Lunch with coffee and then.....jobs!

We were probably only there a couple of hours but it was very productive.
Sacha planted yet more rescued flower bulbs - and there are definitely no more. I put some dahlias and gladioli in, with some marigold seeds.
I've also put some old found seeds in the ground - parsnip, lettuce and french beans - being old they're unlikely to germinate, but better to try than just throw them away.

I didn't get the digging done, I intended, but I'm very pleased with our efforts.
It was a bit chilly, but it's dry.

We might repeat it next Monday - but that requires me to get to the gym by bus, and it's two buses despite not being very far as the crow flies.
