Farhad<p>URGENT: According to the Prisoners Media Office, Attorney Ghaida Qasem from <a href="https://venera.social/search?tag=Nazareth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nazareth</span></a> visited Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, in "Ofer" prison after over 70 days in detention, including 14 days in the notorious "Sde Teiman" detention center.</p><p>She reported that Dr. Abu Safiya was first held in "Sde Teman" for 14 days in isolation, then transferred to "Ofer," where he spent another 25 days in solitary confinement.</p><p>His longest interrogation lasted 13 consecutive days, with each session spanning 8-10 hours. He endured severe <a href="https://venera.social/search?tag=abuse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>abuse</span></a>, <a href="https://venera.social/search?tag=torture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>torture</span></a>, and relentless <a href="https://venera.social/search?tag=brutality" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>brutality</span></a> throughout.</p><p>Before his arrest, Abu Safiya’s son was martyred in Gaza and buried temporarily near Kamal Adwan <a href="https://venera.social/search?tag=Hospital" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hospital</span></a>. His first question during the visit was whether his son had received a proper and dignified burial. He was also deeply affected by his mother’s passing 10 days after his arrest.</p><p>Qasem noted: "He had no idea that his case had gained such widespread local, Arab, and international attention. Prisoners are almost completely isolated inside the prison, and they do not know what is happening outside, nor are they aware of developments in Gaza."</p><p>Regarding the torture and repression Abu Safiya recounted, Qasem said: "If we are talking about 'Sde Teman,' it is a slaughterhouse in every sense of the word. The torture, violations, and starvation there are unprecedented. We are talking about prisoners who have been shackled for 10 months, prisoners with amputated limbs without medical care, elderly detainees who are bound and blindfolded, detainees who have lost 70 to 90 kilograms of weight. In addition, there is the extreme cold—prisoners are held in open cages, exposed to the wind and rain, forced to sit on the ground at all times, forbidden from speaking to one another, praying, or reading the <a href="https://venera.social/search?tag=Quran.%22" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Quran."</span></a></p><p>She continued: "In addition to the physical torture, there is psychological torment, as intelligence officers inform prisoners that their entire families have been martyred."</p><p>The occupation authorities attempted to charge him but, after 45 days of interrogations and torture, failed to find any evidence. His case was reverted to "unlawful combatant" status, stripping him of all legal rights, including representation and formal charges, allowing indefinite detention.</p><p>Despite his suffering, Abu Safiya remains in high spirits. He emphasized: “A person is their history, and their history is a stance that is taken and studied.”</p><p>Last month, zionist media aired footage of Abu Safiya, shackled and visibly exhausted, in a Channel 13 interview—the first since his arrest on December 27, 2024. He explained that because the author is a civilian employee of the IDF and his book is based on his reserve service in the war, approval from the IDF Spokesperson was required for the interview. The approval was given, but canceled a few hours later. A representative of the IDF Spokesperson explained that Hazani's commanders had expressed reservations about the article, and that a conversation would take place between them shortly. Such a conversation did indeed take place. At its conclusion, Hazani decided not to be interviewed. The reason, beyond vague concerns whose content is unclear, was not given. This is a rare case in which an author of a current affairs book, which is available in every Steimatzky or Tzomet Sfarim bookstore, and copies of which were sent to journalists, critics, and military and security researchers—refuses to give an interview that he himself initiated due to a disapproving response from his commanders. This raises a disturbing sense of self-censorship. It is hard not to wonder what exactly the senior IDF officials are afraid of. What embarrassing or problematic information—that he did not include in his book—might Hazani blurt out in a journalistic interview? (The IDF Spokesperson stated: "Hazani had a change of heart and decided not to be interviewed. Farhad<p>I blocked this guy on my other account because he is pretending to be a Muslim scholar claiming that God promised the land to Israelis (sorry for the mistake) by rewriting part of Quran to make it sound completely different than it is.</p><p>I am anti theist.
