Small ironic broadband story:
The Suffolk village we live in has FTTP to almost every postcode except ours. Our postcode is the same postcode where a cabinet is. It’s literally at the end of our close, yet ironically we can’t get FTTP currently as the houses were built in the early 70s, so don’t have underground ducts all the way to each house.
There is good news: today I got an email from Openreach saying that the postcode is now on their building plans and should be connected by December 2026 at the latest.
Be good when it does, I can finally ditch Starlink.
@Sobtanian We’re exactly the same- except at opposite ends of our road is a FTTP connection but because we’re only one household along a long rural stretch of road they won’t justify the cost of joining the two
@harrybo we’re a close of 13 houses so I guess it makes sense to eventually get hooked up.
You could pay to hook yourselves up but I think that’s way too expensive especially when Starlink is an option.
@Sobtanian yeah paying tohook ourselves up is silly money- especially when we're on the cards according to Openreach within the next year or so.
