My Death Sword monster run is going well. As might be expected, they're all offense. I'm level 32 and I only just got the basic resistances covered. It's nice having a bunch of random kinds of telepathy, but looking at the archive of other death swords confusion resistance comes really late, if ever. Looking forward to carrying around mushrooms of cure confusion while fighting the serpent, if I ever get there.

@crapknocker I started playing the game a little bit. Still at the stage of figuring out the basics, but it seems very promising.
(Only played in beginner mode, but I like that it has a town you can return to, a lot of spells and many other small details)

@spinning_bird Hey, great! I can try to answer any questions if you'd like. I'm by no means good, but I've been playing Angband variants for a good many years now if that counts for anything.

@crapknocker it’s a bit hard to find stuff on frogcomposband specifically, so I’ve been reading up on Angband in general, but not sure how similar or different it is, as I’ve never played base Angband either.

I’ve been fully exploring every floor, because from stuff like DCSS I’m used to scraping up every bit of exp possible. But it seems a bit tedious, and the risk/reward seems quite low. Would you recommend going deeper more quickly?

@spinning_bird I think you don't need to see every bit of every level, since most levels don't have a ton of things to sort through. I'd say stay on the level until you get the level feeling (aka, this level looks boring, you feel nervous, there is something special about this level). That will give an indication if there's any unique equipment or monsters there.

Other than that, dive until things get too hard for you, then recall out and maybe go up a level next time.

@crapknocker this level feeling sounds very useful. I’m not sure I’ve seen it, but I’ve only explored a couple of floors until now.

Playing a mage with Sorcery and Chaos spell book, so I have my magic missile and a teleport. 🤗 It seems though that I have to press (m)agic, (b)ook2, (a) for magic missile, * for targeting and then t for firing the spell for every cast, is that right? It becomes muscle memory after a short while, but still I wonder if there isn’t a more convenient way

@spinning_bird There's a way to set a macro so that it's only one button press, but it involves engraving your spell books and using the macro editor, but I haven't really delved into that. There's a section in the help about it.

@spinning_bird Also, this only goes for normal mode, coffee break plays differently and I'm not as familiar with it.
