Still getting through this video, but I think one thing missed in a lot of discussions about the follower dungeons coming in 10.2.5 is it allows Blizzard to actually include dungeons as part of the story. It:
- makes them incredibly easy,
- removes the need to queue with people who are almost always unwilling to explain fights
#Blizzard has been bringing in more and more story to the experience and now they could nestle some of that into dungeons. #WorldOfWarcraft https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGsDsajm7t0
All of that means you can add flavor text to NPCs, additional story dialogue, cinematics, etc. without worrying that people won't be able to experience it. #FF14 has already been including dungeons as part of their story line. Trusts (their version of follower dungeons) works really with that.
See also: I still haven't seen the raid cinematics in game nor done the post-raid story quests because I haven't killed Fyrakk (I don't have access to a raid group or time to do it with folks)
Also, I genuinely think the mythic raid crowd (and fans of that crowd) really have no idea what the skill level is of a lot of #WoW players. And I don't mean that in a mean way; there are just a lot of people that don't understand all of the mechanics available to them. Follower dungeons removes some of that gating and lets more people simply play the game and learn.
