Aberlour, or Charlestown of Aberlour, standing beside the River Spey in the heart of Speyside. It was founded in 1812 close to the site of a much older church and settlement. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/aberlour/aberlour/index.html
„Speyside“ ist der erste neue Bon-Iver-Song seit gut vier Jahren. Der Track markiert für den Musiker den Neuanfang nach einer dunklen Zeit und die Rückkehr zu den Folk-Wurzeln seines Debütalbums.

267 years ago today. Thomas Telford, the civil engineer whose works transformed Scotland and had a huge impact elsewhere, was born near Westerkirk in Dumfries-shire on 9 August 1757. This is his bridge at Craigellachie in Moray. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usbiography/t/thomastelford.html
Inside the Speyside Cooperage near Craigellachie in Moray, in the heart of distillery country. The amazing skills on display have changed little since medieval times but remain vital today. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/craigellachie/speysidecooperage/index.html
A real superstar amongst Scottish castles, this is Ballindalloch Castle on Speyside. Its origins date back to a Z-plan defensive tower house that was built here, probably in 1546, and it's been home to one family ever since. The Inveravon Pictish Stones, displayed in the old porch of Inveravon Parish Church near Ballindalloch on Speyside. This collection of four carved stones probably dates back to the period between 600 and 800. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/ballindalloch/inveravonstones/index.html

And that makes number 14 of Whisky Distilleries visited.
Glenfarclas was good fun, and beautiful Speyside whisky. Unique in they remain family owned, a rarer and rarer sight three days.
Can recommend. I overall prefer whisky that hits a little harder, but can see why so many have recommended this before! Will definitely have again in the future.
Our latest landscape: 'Sunset on the River Spey', original watercolour, 58 x 37 cm, and prints are also available in 4 sizes. We're just north of Fochabers, on the Speyside Way Walk beside the river and looking back into the sunset and that wonderfully big sky.The painting and prints are available, with pricing and details, at www.robwighamwatercolours.com/speysunset.html
Cheap and cheerful Speyside
Glen Keith Distillery Edition, NAS, CF, e150a, 40%abv.
Glen Keith produce some very expensive single malts. this isn't one - a bargain at £20 . Toffee and vanilla with a strong whiff of pear drops. Nice sweet mouthful, some banana, mild spice and a bit of caramel. Uncomplicated with a wee bit harshness disappearing to honey on the finish. Glen Keith is the main malt in Chivas Regal and 100 Pipers blends.
