Started on the #atari #lynx 2 McWill (ali repro) LCD mod. Removed the unneeded components and put them in a bag for safe keeping. Will keep the brightness dial as I will not adding a VGA port to the Lynx. #retromodding #retrorevival #retrogamimg

Replaced the speaker of the #atari #lynx 2 (8Ohm, 2W) with one from #aliexpress. Fits almost perfectly, diameter is the same, but the edge is just a little thicker, so need to push it in a bit harder. On the left is the original, on the right the new speaker. Next a sound comparison. #retrogaming #retromodding #retrorevival
#aliexpress delivery. New stuff arrived. #atari #lynx IPS LCD display, Lynx speakers (look a bit large), backlight panel (not specifically for the Lynx, but was curious. Way too big) and a #gamegear USB-C LiPo battery power/charging board. #retrogaming #retromodding #retrorevival
Made an update to the cap maps page for #pcengine on consolemods.org. Added photos and cap maps for the Duo, edited the board photos of the Duo-R and Super CD-Rom2 and added cap maps for the Sharp X1 Twin (yes, this thing plays PC-Engine games). #retromodding #PCエンジン
Just released a preview video for my current project: a DIY open hardware TFT display mod for the classic Game Boy (DMG01). I built it using the new RP2350B, so the release will have to wait until Raspberry Pi officially launches the controller chip. I’ll post an update when the project is ready for the public.

@rpimag working on an open version of the gameboy IPS screen mod featuring the RP2350B...
Got an extra 1CHIP #superfamicom here from some time ago. Better mod it and sell it before it is worth nothing anymore because of @voultar.com's 2CHIP fix :). #snes #retrogaming #retromodding
Picked up my #pcengine Duo again, put it aside after I couldn't get the RGB mod working. Swapped in a #pcengine rgb amp board meant for the OG PC-Engine because it has a mini-din socket. Using that I got a (sweet) picture. So the wiring was ok in the end. #retrogaming #retromodding
Started re-capping the good #laseractive #megadrive PAC and just noticed it needs 34x (!) 16V 10uF smd caps which I don't have that many of. Nor do I have non-,polar d caps of which it needs 2 (on this board). Guess I will do as much as I can for now. #retrogaming #retromodding
Done! Much improved video quality over the RF signal, but it still is just composite. There are jailbars visible as well. But you can't beat the ease of connecting it now. Now let's find a new owner for this baby. #atari #atari2600 #retrogaming #retromodding
If you haven't seen this before, this is the screen for the Microvision.
Not the lens, not the glass over the screen, this is the ENTIRE screen.
Seems impossible until you see light hitting the screen from a different angle.
Also, it just floats there, held in with tension making contact to the main board.
#pcengine duo rgb mod progress. Using an rgb mod board from @PointerFunction@x (thanks!). Wired the R, G, B and c-sync, GND and 5V to the input. Found nice points for GND and 5V. Hopefully I will have some time tomorrow to finish this up.
Finished the #pcengine cap map, sharing for all to use. Made it available to @DerfJagged@x so it can be added to #consolemodswiki. It should be available there in more formats (pdf) and versions (with and without pcb photo).
While recapping my #pcengine duo I am making a cap map for posterity. Took a few photos of the pcb. Will be sending these to @DerfJagged@x so they can be added to #consolemodswiki.
Couldn't save @zaxour's #saturn fram flex. Broke it after removing it. Decided oldskool fram mod (first time!) now. Removed sram by slowly lifting legs with a needle while warming them up. Then used a heat gun to loosen the glue before prying it off.
Dug up a #sega #mastersystem, try and get rid of the jailbars the cheap way with a rgb bypass without a rgb bypass kit. Wired everything up and... black screen. Spent time trying to figure out why (no signal from original av out either anymore).

so when i did the clicky-buttons mod in my Steam Deck, part of the issue i was having was that the pivot point in the d-pad had become too shallow, so that it was possible to press all the input directions at the same time by pressing the middle of the cross. i'm pretty sure this is because they have you stick on a little decal to the under-side of the d-pad to protect the membranes.
what would you recommend to add some extra height to the pivot point of a d-pad? i think this would be really helpful for precision issues as well.
Received the adjustable DC-DC step down buck module. ow to figure out how to install into the 5V #neogeo AES.
Finally found a way to capture the Game Boy screen properly with decent natural lighting.
After replacing the ICPs and taking lots of time removing the front and drive so I could also replace the remaining 3 caps on them I got about halfway re-assembling the #laseractive. Time to call it a day and also remembered I wanted to RGB mod it and don't have the parts yet.
