I started #Firmament — released yesterday — of which I was proudly a backer. And holy smokes does @cyanworlds quietly deliver masterclasses in design.
This game (and Obduction) has the most marvellous textures. Everything is beautifully distressed and worn. Lived-in and aged, every bannister and fabric tells a story. And it looks just outstanding in Unreal. I can’t wait to see what they do in UE5.
Haven’t gotten far enough to speak of the puzzles, but I am assured of what’s coming. There were hundreds of Myst-likes released, over the years, that thought the trick was to take you to pretty rooms with locked doors, solved by slidey tile puzzles.
That’s not the trick. The trick that Cyan basically invented was to get you to think like you were really there. They still got it.
Oh, and it runs great on Shadow! Would love to see it fly on GFN.
