#Morrison is here talking about US literature but her words, which will not be erased, speak to the fascism of our current day: "The act of enforcing racelessness in literary discourse is itself a racial act. Pouring rhetorical acid on the fingers of a black hand may indeed destroy the prints, but not the hand. Besides, what happens in that violent, self-serving act of erasure to the hands, the fingers, the fingerprints of the one who does the pouring?"

Hey crew, serious question here. This isn't for white and bright peeps, let's say only for visible minorities. If someone asks you 'where are you from' or 'what is that accent' or 'what is your nationality', how do you react? The reason for the question is from a course I just took where a white, and Jewish, doctor said that these questions help him know 'who' you are before he asks you 'how you are'. It didn't make sense then, not now either. Boost so I can get answers, please.

I never understood racism. I mean, I never understood the basis of it. Over the years I've had friends and coworkers of every skin color possible, or almost. I have met people of different races and cultures and we have significant differences. I was once at a Jam Session with three black musicians, a Chinese, two Dutch, three or four South Americans (including me) and an American. We hardly spoke, we played jazz and ate pizza for hours and laughed a lot.
The people doesn't see beyond his nose...
